I recently had the opportunity to test Not Just a Patch Dexcom G6 and Dexcom G7 Air Patches  in two separate 10-day sessions. For each session, I wore a Dexcom sensor– first the G6 on my upper left arm, followed by the G7 on my upper right arm– and applied the Air patch right at the start of each sensor session.

First Impression

Right off the bat, my first impression of the Dexcom G6 Air Patch was how soft and flexible it felt compared to other overpatches, which can be quite firm and stiff.

Application

Applying the Dexcom G6 Air Patch was straightforward. Thanks to the well-designed four-section peel system, I could apply the patch with one hand and avoid any frustrations with wrinkles or misalignments. A major chef’s kiss to the four-section peel system for making this so easy!

Durability

The Dexcom G6 Air Patch stayed securely in place throughout the full 10-day session on the back of my upper left arm– no peeling, fraying or need for reinforcements.

The patch is also both waterproof and sweatproof. While I’m not someone who typically sweats a lot, I don’t think I am able to give a fair review of that feature, but I do shower! I found the adhesive held strong during showers and the patch dried quickly without feeling soggy or uncomfortable afterwards.

Skin Comfort

Dexcom G6 Air Patches are ultra-thin with a soft, cloth-like texture that feels breathable, flexible and lightweight. Unlike other overpatches that can tug at your skin with every moment, these are barely noticeable– almost like it wasn’t even there.

Removal

When it was time to remove the Dexcom G6 Air Patch, I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. I simply peeled up the edges and the patch came off effortlessly without tugging at my skin or reaching for adhesive remover.

Plus, it didn’t leave a sticky residue behind, saving me from scrubbing my skin or walking around with leftover adhesive marks (IYKYK).

Standout Feature

A standout feature of Not Just a Patch Dexcom G6 Air Patch is how the adhesive didn’t interfere with my sensor during removal. This made it reassuring to know I could swap out the patch if it started to peel without worrying about cutting my sensor session short or attempting a makeshift solution.

First Impression

Much like the G6 version, the first thing I noticed about the Dexcom G7 Air Patch was how lightweight and flexible it felt.

Application

Applying the Dexcom G7 Air Patch was even more straightforward. It only has a two-section peel system that allowed me to apply the overpatch one handed without any frustration over wrinkles or misalignment. Another chef’s kiss to the two-section peel design!

Durability

The Dexcom G7 Air Patch stayed securely in place throughout the full 10-day session on the back of my upper right arm– no peeling, fraying or need for reinforcements.

Dexcom G7 Air Patch is smaller than the Dexcom G6 patch and doesn’t have a cut out for the transmitter. It is ultra-thin with a soft, cloth-like texture that feels lightweight, breathable and flexible. Unlike other overpatches made from stiff plastic that can tug at your skin with every moment, these are barely noticeable– like they aren’t even there.

Removal

Removing the Dexcom G7 Air Patch was just as easy as the Dexcom G6 version. I gently peeled it off without any tugging on my skin or needing adhesive remover. Again, it didn’t leave any gross sticky residue behind which I appreciated.

Standout Feature

A standout feature of Not Just a Patch Air Patch is that the adhesive didn’t interfere with my Dexcom G7 sensor during removal. It’s reassuring to know I could simply swap out the patch if it starts peeling without worrying about having to end the sensor session early or trying to make it last longer with a makeshift solution.

Final Thoughts
